Swell Music and Arts Festival 2016
July 8, 2016 - July 10, 2016
Now in its third year, Swell Music and Arts Festival brings its most diverse range of artists and performers to date to the beautiful Arranmore Island.
80+ artists will perform across four stages – including the Wood Burning Savages, Reverend Peyton and his Big Damn Band, Maire NiBhraoinain and her family band, Clann MhicRuairi, Lucky, Rosie Carney, Romie and many more.
The festival starts for visitors the minute they board the ferry and abandon the mainland for the island where relaxation is the order of the day and everyone has time to chat, spin yarns, have a cuppa or a beer and a bit of craic. With the Irish language college in full swing there are plenty of opportunities to practice your Irish or learn a ‘cupla focail’ too. The welcome the locals have for visitors is legendary, and all this before they reach the festival site! With circus performers and street arts, good food and Donegal’s own award winning Kinnegar beers, everything is in place for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday. Listen to the finest of music from the cracking line up, and finish the night off dancing to one of the DJ sets.
Limited accommodation is available through the event website and locally, and there is a campsite to accommodate those who like to savour the great outdoors.
All music takes place under the cover of the big top, barn stage, and marquees so there is ample space to shelter from the sunshine if you forget your factor 50!
