Running a muck in the West
November 3, 2018
Mud Running has seen a strong surge in the last few years and Killary Gaelforce are up there with the rest. Turf Warrior is in its 9th year and will take place on November 3rd this year.
With an outstanding setting in the Killary Fjord and mostly natural obstacles, this mud run is down to earth. It will see participants diving into the mud, navigating nets, trampolines and many more. In total over 20 obstacles will be conquered before true Turf Warriors will emerge from the bog. New obstacles are keeping it fresh, from barrelled walls to electric curtains plus an icy dumper! It’s a stunning course and has been featured on Irelands Fittest Family multiple times over the years.
Previous participant Alex Goor says “It is the most fun you can have in a wetsuit. My brothers and I had the fun of a lifetime!” Turf Warrior is suitable for many levels of fitness and it is all about camaraderie. Making it a great event for team building, fundraising, end of year party or club outing.
Killary Gaelforce has teamed up with Jigsaw and people can take on Turf Warrior for the charity to help support young people’s mental health. In 2017 over 200 people took on Turf Warrior to raise vital funds for various charities.
A hot bowl of soup and homemade bread will be waiting for each participant on the finish line plus a cold beer and a variety of protein snacks from John West Ireland.
