HAGSTRAVAGANZA International Brewery Festival takes over Sligo this July
July 26 - July 27€24
The White Hag Brewing Company are announcing the line up for their International Brewery Festival, HAGSTRAVAGANZA.
Held on their birthday July 26th & 27th at their brewery in Sligo, the festival is the largest International Brewery Festival in Ireland, and in 3 years has established itself on the International Beer Calendar as a must attend event.
The invitational nature of the festival ensures only the best breweries in Ireland and globally are asked to attend and pour their beers, with a completely new set of Breweries attending year-on-year. The festival will attract over 1500 beer lovers to Sligo over the two-day event.
By far the biggest attraction of the festival is the theme – ’70 beers you’ve never tasted before’. All breweries attending must bring 3 – 4 beers each, and the main caveat is that the beer cannot have poured before in Ireland. This means for Irish beer fans they get to sample and taste up to 70 brand new beers over a weekend from around the world, in one place, with one ticket.
This year sees some of the best breweries in the world attend, bringing award winning beers and styles from some of the more established craft beer markets. Arriving from 3 continents there will be 14 international breweries bringing 3 or more beers each.
Some of the big attractions will include Bagby brewing from California, Collective Arts from Toronto and Lambrate brewery from Milan. The Saturday will also see the return of Cloudwater Brew Co from Manchester, with whom The White Hag have collaborated over the past year to create a Nitro Black IPA, titled ‘Cairde Gan Teorainneacha’ translating as ‘friends without borders’.
Managing Director of The White Hag Paul Mullin said:
“HAGSTRAVAGANZA has now become the biggest and most innovative brewery event in Ireland, which has created a very valuable position for Irish brewing in the International brewing scene. We work hard over the year to get to as many festivals, events and breweries around the world, to ensure we have the pick of all breweries coming to our birthday party, and this year is the best line up yet
We already have beer fans traveling from 4 US states and 7 European countries to join 1500 more local revellers, with 90% of attendees coming from outside the northwest”
Tickets start from €24 up to €50 and festivities start with an exclusive barrel aged tasting on Friday evening, with the festival proper kicking off on the 27th. Features will include a food court of 8 local craft food suppliers from the Sligo food trail, the beer olympics yard games, 23 breweries and 70+ never seen beers, the Sligo pub crawl and of course the legendary noisiest train in Ireland into Sligo town on the Saturday evening!
