Award winning restaurants bring food to the streets in Galways oldest neighbourhood
A Raven’ Street Feast for Galways westend.
After its inaugural first year in 2017, The westend Street Feast is back but this year it is popping up twice. As no one can wait until June, Galways westend have decided to host the Street Feast as part of their Easter celebrations. The Easter Feastival will take place on Monday 22nd April from 11am to 4pm.
The neighbourhood Street Feastival will bring together the much loved and award-winning businesses in the area, Kicking off at 11am each day and running until early evening.
Galways westend have again teamed up with Walsh Waste to make this a biodegradable and compostable festival, using eco packaging and take away materials.
Last year 5,000 people attended the June Street Festival on the Bank holiday Monday. To take part vendors at the Street Feast have to serve their food/drink offering in biodegradable or compostable materials.
The Street Feast will allow you to sample a taste of each business including Kai Restaurant, Dela Restaurant, John Keoghs The Lockkeeper, An Tobar Nua, Rouge Restaurant, Gourmet Tart, Handsome Burger, Hooked on Henry Street, Salthouse, Crust Bucket, Tartare Cafe + Wine Bar, Massimo Bar, Monroes,America Village, Deli La Tasca, BoTown and retailers including McGuire’s Daybreak, Bell Book and Candle, Farraghers, Avo Nice Day, All About kombucha and Ernies of course.
This year the westend summer festival will run all day Monday 3rd June with a street food showcase at Ravens Terrace each day. Business, producers and local suppliers will be showcased at Ravens Terrace each day and people will get a chance to meet the producers and the chefs of westend eateries and also sample some of their most well-known dishes.
Ravens Terrace will be closed off to traffic completely and there will be live music and face painting. This is a family-friendly day in the westend that aims to encourage people to cross the bridge and enjoy all that is going on in this much-loved area of Galway.
“Each business will be offering a flavour of what they do. The area will be set up as a picnic area and we are inviting Galway to the westend to enjoy all of our amazing food. Each business will have a stall set up selling food and refreshments, there will be live blue grass music and face painting will be happening for all the children,” explained Mags Bohan of Dela Restaurant and the westend Traders association.
Being in Galway, this all comes with a weather warning!!!
This event is however weather dependent, as long as its dry, it’s going ahead.
