Biodiversity Day at the Organic Centre

Biodiversity Day hosted by the Organic Centre will have an array of guest speakers, children activities, and an opportunity to learn about what’s happening about nature along with opportunities to become involved and learn new skills. Guest speakers and demonstrations on the day include Biodiversity Champion Thomas Earley, who in February won this accolade for the inspiring work, protecting biodiversity on his farm. Other speakers on the day will include John Carey-Agri Ecologist, National Parks and Wildlife Service, who will give an overview of the current situation of the threats presented to us in Ireland. He will chat about biodiversity and agriculture but also have some good news stories like the ground-breaking Curlew Conservation Project the first conservation project in Ireland.
Karen Kennedy, Community Water Officer will be welcomed back once again and provide a demonstration, while Dr Agnieszka Piwowarczyk, Soil scientist will give a presentation on Biodiversity and soil. Howard Fox from the National Botanic Gardens will be joined by botanist Maria Cullen to look at trees, woods and hedgerows and their ability to support life.The day will be a family friendly event with children’s workshops and demonstrations for all.
