‘Our Place’ is popular musician Kieran Quinn’s ambitious new project to create original songs, inspired by Sligo, which will be released as a new album this November 2017.
All the album proceeds will go towards the Hawk’s Well Theatre’s €1.1 m renovation plans – creating a world-class theatre for the people of the North West.
Our Place – 6 Songs for Sligo
For this project Kieran aims to write, record and release 6 songs in 6 different styles, for 6 different singers, all in 6 months.
The first single was released on July 31 and stars Tabby Callaghan & Marie Conway. Two of Ireland’s most recognised and loved vocalists perform on the catchy feel-good duet. The video was filmed on a glorious summer’s evening in beautiful Rosses Point Beach.
Kieran will continue to release a new single every month for the rest of the year, culminating in a Christmas single, and an EP release of all 6 songs.
The Sligo singer has teamed up with a number of star names such as Sandy Kelly, Tabby Callaghan, Seamie O’Dowd, Joe Hunt and Sinead Conway who will bring these songs to life.
Hawk’s Well Theatre – Renovation Fund
The Hawk’s Well is a 340 seat theatre in Sligo, North West Ireland. It hosts a diverse programme of arts and entertainments including comedy, professional and amateur drama, a wide range of music from traditional and jazz to opera, plus dance, pantomime, children’s theatre and comedy.
Since 1982 the Hawk’s Well has been at the cultural heart of Sligo and has enlivened and entertained the people of the region. The theatre is firmly rooted as a social and cultural hub in the North West with over 50,000 people attending shows annually. 35 years in operation has taken its toll on the building and renovation is urgently needed to address accessibility, flooding, capacity and comfort. The estimated cost of the planned improvements is €1.1 million.
