Galway-based company, mocks.ie, was set up in 2009 by siblings Ailish and Eoghain Ryan and provides online exam and correction service for Junior and Leaving Cert students. This is the first online resource designed specifically for Irish Junior and Leaving Cert students. With mocks.ie, Ailish & Eoghain aim to help students prepare for their exams with online study aids and online examinations.
With some market research, Ailish and Eoghain both engineers, found there was no study aid that offered feedback for students outside of school, other than expensive one-to-one grinds.
When setting up mocks.ie, the Ryan siblings partnered with engineer and ex-Galway hurling captain David Collins, and engineer Liam Frawley. The quartet liaised closely with teachers in schools throughout the site’s development. Using mocks.ie as an online examination, correction and feedback service, students can monitor their progress and improve their results through continuous practice.
mocks.ie has an exam correction and feedback service corrected by state examiners, an oral examination service, online aural and multiple choice questions, all of which can be accessed virtually, with prices starting from as low as €2.
mocks.ie is also taking full advantage of the new digital marketing opportunities offered by smartphones and recently launched an iPhone App that allows second-level language students to test themselves with an aural exam while on the move.
The application is available for download from the iTunes App store for €2.39 per exam. Aural exams are available in Irish, French, German and Spanish in Ordinary and Higher Level.
