The West really has it all for children; the great outdoors, nature, traditional heritage and the Gealtacht where Irish is still spoken as a first language.  Activities such as hiking, horse riding &  fishing are easy to partake in.  Families can access the stunning blue-flag beaches, art galleries, musuems and leisure centres in the region. GAA, Soccer, Hurling and Rugby clubs are active throughout the region.

The West is a great area for families who enjoy the outdoors and activities. It is incredibly family friendly with lots to see and do wth the kids. You can explore Ireland's traditional heritage in beautiful islands and mountainous parks or live it up in one of Europe's most cosmopolitan cities, Galway.

After school activities such as sports, crafts, music and dance lessons are also popular and widely available in the region.  Check with local parishes to find out what kids clubs are available locally. You yourself will spend less time commuting to and from work in the Western region and will find that you have more time to devote to your family and pursuing activities together.
