With over 700 entries, we've been overwhelmed with the response to our Fine Things photo competition.  As expected, entries to the competition were filled with beautiful people, awe-inspiring landscapes, furry friends, festivals and fun-filled shots of Ireland's Western Region.

The judging panel, which included Galway photographer, David Ruffles, had a very difficult job in shortlisting the final 10 from each county. David commented he was "very impressed not only with the technical competence of the photographs but also with the breadth of subject matter.  The collection of photographs shows us not only the topography of the west of Ireland but also a glimpse of how people live."

The shortlist has now been finalised and is available for viewing and voting here.

Voting Details:

Voting is now live here and will remain open until Aug 1st.  Winners will be announced on Aug 1st and prizes include an overall prize of a two night break for four at the stunning Lisloughrey Lodge in Cong, Co Mayo.

County prizes for all 7 Western counties include a weekend pass for two to 'A Taste of Donegal' food festival, lunch at the sublime Shells Seaside Bakery & Cafe in Strandhill, Co Sligo with a signed copy of their fantastic new cookbook the Surf Café Cookbook, a weekend for family of 4 at McGuire's Irish Cottages, Drumshanbo, Co Leitrim, a 'Ride to the Reek' cycling day trip for 2 with Electric Escapes Tours, Westport, a fabulous original artwork by award-winning textile artist Frances Crowe from Grange Co Roscommon and a a mouth watering hamper from the Burren Smokehouse, Lisdoonvarna, Co. Clare.

Voters will be rewarded with prizes including a Hawk Walk at the Aillwee Cave and the Burren Birds of Prey Centre, Co Clare and a wonderful day's bike hire for 2 adults for Great Western Greenway with Clew Bay Bike Hire, Westport, Co.Mayo.
