26 Bealtaine 2012 - Achill Secret Garden Food & Health fair (Maigh Eo)

Achill Secret Garden is hosting a Food & Health Fair on Saturday, 26th May, from 12.00-17.00pm. History of the Garden: The core part of the 3 acres garden was established through the planting of Monterey Cypresses, roughly 100 years ago; they gave the much-needed shelter to the rest of the terrain. Amongst the many (famous) artists that lived on Achill Island around the turn of the last century was the painter Mr. Alexander Williams. According to his still existing diary, he introduced a vast range of plants and trees, like the line of still existing Rhododendrons which he planted on April 17th 1907. 26 Bealtaine 2012 - Great Western Greenway 10k walk/run (Maigh Eo)

Great Western Greenway 10k walk/run gets set to go on Saturday 26th May at 2pm. The event is centrepiece to a wide range of events taking place in Westport during the ‘Get Out There Adventure Festival’ 21st–27th May. To enter log onto www.mayosports.ie or enter on the morning of the walk/run at the Westport Leisure Park from 11.30am–1pm. Participants will be bussed to the start from 1pm. Entry fee is €20 and this will include a special commemorative t-shirt as well as chip timing and post race refreshments.

01 Meitheamh 2012 - Havana Cultura Festival (Gaillimh)

Havana Cultura (formerly Little Havana Festival) returns to Galway's Latin Quarter over the June Bank Holiday weekend, 1st-3rd June. From the evening of Friday, 1st June through to the Sunday, Galway's Latin Quarter will be alive with Latin music, dance, street entertainment, art and cultural events. 03 Meitheamh 2012 - Peter Bailey Cup Sky Road 10K Challenge (Gaillimh)

Connemara Chamber of Commerce run for a charity of your choice. This 10K road event with an entrance fee of €20 and boasting a prize fund of in excess of €1000 to include €500 to the first male, €500 to the first female and €50 to the first walker, first buggy and first fancy dress will be staged at 2.00 p.m. (Walkers start at 1.30 p.m.) on Sunday the 3rd of June 2012 (June Bank Holiday Weekend). The route will take participants on a tour of the famed SKY ROAD which is widely acknowledged as the most scenic route in all of Connemara and indeed as one of the most scenic routes in all of Ireland. The event is open to people of all ages and all levels of fitness, from walkers out to enjoy a Sunday stroll to competitive runners looking to really challenge themselves and as such the course will be officially measured and chip timing will be provided for all involved. 10 Meitheamh 2012 - 11th Annual Inishowen Vintage Show (Dún na nGall)

Over the last 10 years the Inishowen Vintage Rally has grown year by year. A fun family day out for all, every year there are displays of vintage memorabilia from early 1900 on which include tractors, stationary engines, steam engines, threshing mills and cars that come from far and wide. Other events of interest include chainsaw sculpting, butter churning, blacksmiths, spinning and fun fair for the children.

23 Meitheamh 2012 - Gaelforce North – June 23rd (Dún na nGall)

Gaelforce North will see you discover some amazing parts of Donegal, including Glenveagh Nationl Park, Coillte Forest Tracks and the spectacular Mount Errigal. Both courses involve cycling, running/hill running and kayak. The longer course is 64km with the new sprint course being 42km. Due to logistics it will again be a solo race and we will not have provision for relay teams or teams.

01 Iúil 2012 - Errisbeg House Open Day (Gaillimh)

An open garden day will be held at Errisbeg House on the 1st July in aid of Cancer Care West. There is no entrance fee, and there will be garden pots and ornaments on show and for sale, as well as perennial plants for sale. The Irish American Link: People, Places, and Culture" conference will take place in the Ard Ri House Hotel, Tuam, Co. Galway, Ireland from the 12th to 16th July, 2012. Hosted by the Old Tuam Society in partnership with Drew University (Madison, New Jersey, USA); Galway County Council; The Centre for Irish Studies, National University of Ireland Galway and Galway County Heritage Forum. The conference will explore historic connections between the West of Ireland and North America. It will focus on historical figures, emigration, genealogy, history and culture. Galway Arts Festival is Ireland's largest annual arts festival, taking place each July in the city of Galway. Running from 19th to 22nd July, Féile Bia na Mara is a culinary celebration of Achill's rich heritage with the sea and it showcases the bountiful harvest of the Atlantic Ocean. Guest chef this year is Neven McGuire, who will hosting cookery demonstrations, while other fishy events include seaweed safaris, fish markets, seafood BBQs and a family sandcastle building competition. Local (and guest) talent includes Cailín agus Buachaill Óg and the Achill's Got Talent contest.

18 Lúnasa 2012 - Gaelforce West - August 18th 2012 (Maigh Eo)

The course of approximately 67km stretches from the stunning Glassilaun beach to Westport. En route there are some significant obstacles to cross, including Killary Harbour and the famous holy mountain of Croagh Patrick. It is important to note that you will get wet and dirty; you are running through bogs, along mountain paths and up Croagh Patrick! You are cycling along small country roads, a dirt track and on a small section of the N59. Gaelforce Extreme covers a course of 78km. It involves the same disciplines as Gaelforce West but with extras! For more details click here! These are not triathlons, marathons or a fun runs, they are adventure races! It will test you both physically and mentally but the elation you will feel at the end when you cross the finish line will make it all worth it! Please read everything carefully so there are no surprises on the day.

Learn to play traditional Irish music in a relaxed atmosphere in Miltown Malbay. Bríd O Donohue learned her music by ear from playing with local musicians like Willie Clancy, J.C. Talty, Bobby Casey and Junio Crehan. Takes place from September to June with individual classes available outside these dates on request. Refreshments provided. There is a participation fee. The lessons are suited to different age groups.

03 Samhain 2012 - Gaelforce Turf Guy - November 3rd 2012 (Gaillimh)

Gaelforce Turf Guy 2012 November 3rd - It’s a lot more craic than just running in the mud!This is a Gaelforce event. We have invested heavily into our top class course using one of the UK’s top ropes course and sky frames builders. We are not just tyres and cargo nets.......come along and find out for yourself on November 5th! This event will be a mental and physical challenge but will also be lots of fun. The course is approximately 10km long but will involve cold November water temperatures, energy sapping obstacles, cliff jumps and much, much more. The Turf Guy takes place on the banks of Killary Fjord, Leenane, Co. Galway.
