 Clann Lir This beautiful, bilingual production for children, by Galway’s Branar Drámaíochta, is a magical tale told with puppetry, vivid imagery and enchanting, newly-composed traditional music. A father’s love for his children is at heart of this beautiful re-telling of the ancient tale of Clann Lir. In this stunning piece of theatre, Branar focuses on the fairytale elements of the story - a father’s search for his children, magical transformations, the three chances to break a spell, and much more! The production is designed specifically for national school children from first class up to fourth class. Directed by Marc Mac Lochlainn, music by Micheal Chang & Freda Nic Giolla Chatháin, and performed by Grace Kiely agus Neasa Ní Chuanaigh, this project was developed with help of Deis funding and Foras na Gaeilge. ‘Clann Lir’ will be staged in Aras Inis Gluaire on Wednesday, 8 June. Frankie Gavin & De Dannan Frankie Gavin & De Dannan will perform in Áras Inis Gluaire as part of the 'Up Close and Personal Tour'. In a move which Frankie Gavin states is largely motivated by the band’s wish to lift the hearts of the Irish people during this extraordinary economic climate in Ireland, the band will, for the most part, bring its music to local communities throughout rural Ireland where concert-goers will be saved the expense of travelling to established venues in bigger centres, and where admission fees will be price sensitive. The performances will take place in an intimate setting and it will allow many people to witness the talents of the world’s greatest fiddle player and his top calibre band up close and meet the performers in person. Erris Beo Cineclub na nÓg  As part of the Erris Beo festival, there will be a Cineclub na nÓg event in Áras Inis Gluaire on Friday, 17 June, from 4.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. This two hour, fun-filled bilingual junior film club includes art activities, discussions with the facilitators and, of course, a film in the state-of-the-art cinema! Don’t Dress for Dinner The ever popular Beezneez Theatre Company presents this rollicking summer farce. Don't Dress for Dinner is a frenetic comedy of mistaken identity with more twists than a corkscrew. When Jacqueline decides to visit her mother for a few days, her husband Bernard sees an opportunity for a cosy weekend with his new mistress. His bachelor pal, Robert, calls to announce his return from Hong Kong, so Bernard invites him along as his alibi, also hiring a cordon bleu-level cook to cater a delicious dinner. But when Jacqueline realises Robert is coming for a visit, everything changes, and the high speed farce begins! Campaí Samhraidh There will be two week-long summer camps in Áras Inis Gluaire this year, for primary school children who are 6 years or over since January 1. The first will take place in July (11 to 15 July) and the second one will take place in August (8 to 12 August). During the camp, various educational, sporting and cultural activities will be organised. Participants will be encouraged to speak Irish. Call 097 81079 for more information.
