Social Media Experiment Confirms People are happier in the West

James Eggers from The Irish TimesJames Eggers is a 16 year old student from Dublin who exhibited at the recent BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition. By combining a set of different toolkits, he analysed 4 million tweets originating from the island of Ireland between 21 September and 14 December and tagged them as positive, negative or neutral.

The Vibes of Ireland is the result of James' analysis.

One of the experiments outcomes was to compare the general mood of tweeters on the East Coast to the general mood of the West Coast of Ireland over an average day. The outcome of the experiment was that the West Coast of Ireland is almost always happier than the East Coast. But we knew that anyway didn't we!
