Mayo student wins National Motorsport competition

Foxford teenager Sean Hynes will fulfil his motorsport dreams in 2011 having been declared the winner of the first ever Mondello Park 'Become a Racing Driver' competition. Sean's prize will see him compete in a full season of Formula Sheane races at Mondello Park during 2011 with the backing of Mondello Park and Sheane Cars, Ireland most successful racing car constructor.

Sean first sat in a racing car just one week ago and was one of the last drivers selected from the qualifying heats, which have been running since September, to go forward and take part in  Saturday's winner take all final. The UCD mechanical engineering student beat off eleven other hopefuls, some with considerably more experience, to lift the prize which is valued at more than €15,000. Sean's motorsport adventure will commence in April following a pre-season testing and coaching programme which will begin over the coming weeks.
