Galway-based Irish dance troupe Mystic Force have claimed their place among the 28 semi-finalists in the live shows of Sky One’s ‘Got to Dance’.
The troupe began as part of the Dance Society (Dansoc) in NUI Galway and Mystic Force manager Mark McCole was part of the NUI Galway Dance Society from 2004 to 2006, along with other current members of the troupe Sarah Clogher, David Healy, Josephine Chrystal, Sarah Jayne MacLaverty, Katie MacLaverty, Eanna Ryan, Aideen Ryan and Riona Durkan.
Mystic Force will represent the best of Irish dancing on an international platform and will appear on a live show of ‘Got to Dance’ on Sky One this Sunday, 20 February, where they will battle it out against stiff competition for their place in the live final the following week. The group has pledged to donate £50,000 to cancer research in Ireland if they are crowned champions.
‘Got to Dance’ presenter Davina McCall and judges Kimberly Wyatt, Ashley Banjo and Adam Garcia recently travelled throughout Ireland and Britain to deliver the fate of each of the acts. Kimberly Wyatt of the Pussycat Dolls delivered the good news in person to Mystic Force in Aras na nGael on Dominick Street while the troupe were rehearsing for upcoming performances.
Mystic Force manager Mark McCole said: “The whole experience is absolutely mind-blowing and it is an absolute privilege to be invited to be part of the ‘Got to Dance’ live semi-finals in London. It is the biggest and best thing that has ever happened to Mystic Force and we are working harder than ever to deliver what has to be the performance of our lives on February 20. We just hope that Galway and the West get behind us for our semi-final and help get us through to the final of Got to Dance 2011.”
