Cinema North West’s ‘New Roots’ film festival finishes in Carrick-on-Shannon this weekend.

RewersFollowing two weekends with packed audiences in Manorhamilton and Ballinamore, Cinema North West’s New Roots film festival heads for Carrick-on-Shannon this Friday, Saturday and Sunday for its final weekend of free film screenings.

Cinema North West’s ‘New Roots’ film festival is a weekend of entertaining films that reflect Leitrim’s many cultures, races and religions, to be enjoyed by newcomers, minority groups and those who have been deeply rooted here for generations.

All screenings take place in Cinema North West’s Cinemobile, which will be located at The Dock arts centre in Carrick-on-Shannon this weekend (Feb. 18th – 20th).  

Screenings include a wide variety of films to suit all audiences, including Martin Scorsese films ‘The Last Temptation of Christ’ and ‘Kundun’, Irish film-maker Áine O’Brien’s 2006 film ‘Here to Stay’ about the human-side of migration in Ireland and and award-winning Polish film 'The Reverse' which takes a sly look at life in 1950s communist Poland..

This project has been funded by the PEACE lll Programme through the European Union's European Regional Development Fund managed for the Special EU Programme Body by Leitrim county council on behalf of County Leitrim Peace lll Partnership
