New Irish platform to facilitate 'crowd-funding' for artists and cultural organisations

www.fundit.ie is Ireland’s first crowdfunding platform for creative ideas, and it will go live towards the end of February 2011.

Fund it Introduction from Fund it on Vimeo.

This platform will provide a new way for designers, artists, film-makers, inventors, producers, performers, writers, musicians and other creative individuals, groups and organisations to bring their ideas and passion to reality.  In fact, there’s no reason why anyone with a creative idea shouldn’t engage with the site! The Fund it team will provide support to Project Creators to help them make their projects and ideas successful.  If you know of anyone in your network who you think would be interested in using the platform, please let them know.

Fund it will feature projects and ideas that :

  • are creative, inspiring and fundable within a defined period of time
  • have an outcome (e.g. to write a book, make a film or design a widget), and are not for funding causes and lifestyles
  • offer great rewards
  • have access to great social networks
  • have an all or nothing approach to funding – if projects don’t reach 100% of their target in the timeframe, the project doesn’t get funded

What’s great about Fund it is that creators retain 100% ownership of their ideas, and projects can be funded from anywhere in the world!

Fund it is being established by the Business to Arts organisation who see it  'as forming an important part of our overall strategy to support greater sustainability in the cultural sector. This project not only provides creators with an opportunity to involve even more people in their ideas, but will support greater audience engagement and will help develop awareness of how cultural projects can be brought to life in Ireland.'

LookWest.ie looks forward to the late February launch of Fund it and encourages artists and cultural organisations in the Western Region to get involved.
