Aras Inis GluaireThere will be plenty of events to stay amused with for the winter months at Áras Inis Gluarie, Co Mayo.

Áras Inis Gluaire is the arts centre for the Barony of Erris, in North West Mayo. The centre is named after the local island, Inis Gluaire, which is a historic, early Christian site and was home to the Children of Lír for 300 years.

Below are some upcoming events that may be of interest for all tastes and ages;

St Brendan’s Variety Concert

The Transition Year Student’s of St. Brendan’s College will hold its annual variety concert at the Áras Inis Gluaire arts centre on Tuesday 13th & Wednesday 14th December 2011 at 8p.m. Early booking is advised to avoid disappointment. To book tickets, contact St. Brendan’s College on 097 1437.

Santa and the Present Pirates

Santa and the Present Pirates, Thursday, December 15th. Three shows, 10 a.m., 11.30 a.m. & 1 p.m. Places still available for for 1 p.m. show. To book call 097 81079. €8 per child, teachers/parent free. This new production mixes music, song, puppets and actors in a magical adventure for Christmas.

Erris Photography Group

A photography Group has been formed in Erris and is holding four informal classes in Áras Inis Gluaire every Wednesday at 7 p.m. under the watchful eye of professional photographer, Evita Coyle. The demand for this course has been phenomenal. Exhibition

TAras Inis Gluairehe Western Care Art Project titled “What I can do & what I have to say” will be on display throughout the month of December in the exhibition space in Áras Inis Gluaire. The exhibition is a culmination of works for four extraordinary artists: Michael, Nora, Hugh and Rita. It was facilitated by Claire Griffin and supported by Áras Inis Gluaire, Mayo County Council & Western Care. The exhibition will be on display for the month of December.
