UK Journalists on Flying visit to Sligo

Uk Journalists visit sligoFáilte Ireland are currently highlighting the many attractions that Sligo, and indeed the North West, has to offer to a group of top UK journalists and representatives from one of the UK’s leading airlines – BmiBaby.

During a meeting earlier this year in London, Team Sligo and Sligo tourism trade put forward a proposal to encourage a group of journalists to come and immerse themselves in the attractions of Sligo. This has resulted in Fáilte Ireland, in conjunction with Tourism Ireland, putting a full itinerary together of things to do and see in the area.

After arriving in Knock airport from Birmingham, the group took time out to visit the Eagles Flying at Ballymote, a scientifically managed sanctuary for birds of prey and owls. Plans for the weekend include visiting the Yeats Centre to get a real sense of Sligo, visiting The Model Gallery, Drumcliff Churchyard, Voya Seaweed Baths, the beautiful scenic Lough Gill Drive and personal visits to Galleries, Craft Shops and much more before being immersed and sampling great food and entertainment in Sligo over the weekend of the Choral Festival.

Martina Bromley, Client Services Manager with Fáilte Ireland, said: "We are delighted to welcome these top UK journalists and representatives of BmiBaby to the North West of Ireland where we have put a full itinerary together to showcase what we have to offer. By providing these journalists with a positive experience of their visit to Ireland, it is hoped that the coverage created will be a lasting legacy. This ‘legacy’ will encourage visitors to return to Sligo, and indeed Ireland in the future as well as encouraging them to recommend it to family and friends”.
