Sligo Festivals and Events producers urged to attend ultimate festival networking event ‘The Business of Fun’

Business of Fun galwayThe ultimate gathering of Irish Festival Event workers will take place at this year’s Association of Irish Festivals Events annual conference.

This year’s conference will be held on the 10th and 11th of November in the Carlton Shearwater Hotel Ballinasloe in conjunction with the International Festival and Events Association Europe (IFEA).

Steven Schmader, the president of the International Festivals and Events Association, Heather Maitland, industry expert who will be speaking about Irish festival audience trends in the past year and Sylvia Allen, internationally recognised author who will be talking about generating sponsorship for events.

Offering Sligo festival and event producers valuable opportunities to exchange notes and ideas with their European counterparts, on the season just gone and the year ahead. This is the definitive festivals and events conference with streams that will cover all aspects of producing successful festivals and events.

This is where the art, people and business of festivals and events converge.

Speakers will cover a range of areas from generating sponsorship and commercial revenue to marketing communications, collaboration and partnerships and social media as well as the practicalities of running festivals and quality events. Speakers from the worlds of local authorities, Sponsorship, Marketing, Social Media, and successful Festivals and Events have been confirmed with many more to follow. The conference also serves as a showcase for bands, acts, artists and performers, including Sligo’s very own Sunday Mass, bringing a huge element of fun to the two day event. Suppliers to the sector will also be able to meet event organisers through the Festive Expo – which runs alongside the conference.

‘The Business of Fun’ will be the Association of Irish Festival Event’s 18th annual conference and is run in association with Fáilte Ireland.

Each year the Rocket Pyrotechnics Festival Event Supplier Awards and the Carlton Best of Marketing Awards acknowledge the quality work carried out by organisers, suppliers and entertainers in the industry.
