Meet West- Business Networking Event to be held in Galway

MeetWest 2011MeetWest 2011 will be the largest business networking event in the West, taking place on November 21st-22nd, in the Galway Bay Hotel.

MeetWest 2011 is a two-day national business networking forum. The object of the event is to promote business in the West of Ireland and the programme has been arranged to offer new and innovative networking opportunities for attendees in a variety of formats.

It is anticipated that up to 400 delegates will participate during the event making it an essential addition to every business diary. Speaking at the launch Roscommon County Manager Frank Dawson urged all business in the West and further afield to take part: 'The MeetWest event will provide a great opportunity for companies in the West Region of Galway, Mayo and Roscommon to generate new business for themselves. The support agencies involved are delighted to be able to create an environment that will facilitate more business for companies and I look forward to hearing from the great line up of speakers who should provide invaluable business advice', he said.

Speaking about the event, successful Tuam business man John Concannon of JFC Manufacturing Ltd said: 'I have participated in similar events to the MeetWest initiative in other parts of the country and found that they have been a good source of business for my company. I am delighted that this event is being staged in this region. I would strongly advise any other company operating from Galway, Mayo and Roscommon to register to be involved as soon as possible. It’s too good a business opportunity to miss', he concluded.

The two-day event will kick-off with a half day conference 'Business in the West: Local to Global' with speakers including John Perry, TD, Minister for Small Business, Jerry Kennelly, MD Tweak.com, Gerry Kilcommins, Vice President Global Vascular Operations & General Manager Galway, Medtronic, Helen Ryan CEO Creganna Medical Devices, John Concannon, Managing Director, JFC Manufacturing Co Ltd and Mary Gleeson, Gleeson's Townhouse & Restaurant, Roscommon & Good Food Ireland Circle

Workshops will include Exporting, Procurement in the Public and Private Sector and Tax Credits. Day 2 of MeetWest 2011 will bring a new concept in Networking to the West of Ireland. In conjunction with Event Software Manager Futurallia, delegates will have up to ten pre-arranged meetings with other companies which whom they have been specifically matched in terms of doing business.

MeetWest 2011 is expected to attract participants across all business sectors including agri-food & beverage industry, pharmaceutical & health, construction, engineering, craft & textiles, IT, energy supply, alternative energies, manufacturing, printing & design, services to SMEs, research & education, tourism, hospitality, transport and logistics, representatives of  business networks,  Irish public sector buyers, micro-enterprises, small and medium-sized companies, large companies and multinationals

Partners organising MeetWest 2011 are Galway City Council, Galway County Council, Roscommon County Council, Mayo County Council, Galway County and City Enterprise Board, Roscommon County Enterprise Board, Mayo County Enterprise Board, Enterprise Ireland and Udaras na Gaeltachta.
