Sligo Live Sessions 2011 - 26th-31st Oct

Sligo Live is a national festival celebrating traditional, roots and acoustic music. Now in its seventh year, it has carved out a niche as one of the most relaxed, intimate and enjoyable music festivals in Ireland.

The distinctive Sligo music style is renowned worldwide for its ‘lift’– a traditional term to describe the uplifting spirit it conveys. The musical program presented in Sligo Live will reflect the verve, authenticity and quality of Sligo’s music. County Sligo holds a special place in traditional Irish music.

The three stage Festival Club rocking The Model is a new concept this year. There will be a Main Stage in the Black Box, the seats will be gone allowing you to dance to The Oddsocks Revival followed by DJ mixes. There will also be a second Acoustic Stage in another room (not totally acoustic, but mellower than the main stage) featuring a selection of festival artists you may have missed at other venues, such as The Henrietta Game. The lobby of The Model will feature The Session Space anchored by Glasgow's the three Friel Sisters. All of this will centre round a pop up bar serving draft, bottles and wine at reasonable prices.

Fans will be delighted to hear that Elvis Costello and KT Tunstall will be headlining Sligo Live 2011 for what promises to be an uplifting and exciting performance from both of these talented musicians.

In addition, the Sunday Night Festival Club will also be Halloween themed. With The Barley Mob judging the most festive outfit.
