 Mid-West wireless broadband provider, BBnet recently launched a new FibreAir dedicated Internet service in Shannon, Co Clare, involving a quarter of a million euro investment by the company.
The new service will enable businesses in the greater Shannon area to avail of dedicated, uncontended Internet connection from 10Mb up to 100Mb in a cost effective manner. The introduction of this new high-speed FibreAir product solidifies BBnet’s commitment to bringing a dedicated Internet service to businesses throughout the Mid-West region.
Customer demand for a quality Internet connection that offered greater upload speed at an affordable price led to the product roll-out. Backhauled onto its existing Tier1 Fibre network at Westpark Business Campus in Shannon, the FibreAir service offers businesses secure Internet connections with scalable bandwidths from 10Mb up to 100Mb, a dedicated service to each customer with no sharing of bandwidths, and a fully synchronous service with the same upload and download.
Launching the product and congratulating BBnet for taking the initiative to provide this piece of important connectivity infrastructure to businesses within the Shannon region, and for committing an investment of this magnitude from its own resources, Senator Tony Mulcahy said: “The Internet has shaped this country to be one of the main global technology competitors. However, we must not become complacent with this role but strive to keep up with the technologies in order to maintain our global reputation. The impressive entrepreneurial spirit that BBnet, as a small indigenous business, has displayedin filling an infrastructural gap and providing a much-needed service, augers well for its future.”
Speaking at the launch, BBnet managing director Barry O’Halloran added: “The provision of competitively priced high bandwidth, which is totally independent of the incumbent provider’s network and infrastructure, will greatly assist companies that are migrating to cloud computing and that need greater upload speed. With more and more video conferencing applications and remote connectivity being used within the business setting, to and from headquarters, there is a widespread interest in upgrading to higher-speed services. Using a combination of fibre and the latest wireless technologies, this new service will facilitate the migration to higher capacity services and accelerate the migration from copper-based networks.”
