Enda KennyThe programme includes a Cocktail Reception on Wednesday night, full program of speakers on Thursday, a Gala Dinner with speaker on Thursday night and a half day program on Friday. It will take place at the beautiful Knockranny House Hotel & Spa which is recognised as one of Ireland's finest luxury four star deluxe hotel and destination spa establishments.

In the current challenging economic landscape, Ireland is strategically placed as an attractive destination for inward investment by U.S. companies. Not only is Ireland in a position to promote high quality offerings in the traditional areas of legal, financial and tax professional services, but also in the areas of recruitment, property, telecommunications and outsourcing services to name but a few. Local Authorities have a pivotal role in attracting and facilitating this development. The symposium provides an opportunity for U.S. and Irish business, legal and Government leaders to network and build relationships

Whilst this is essentially a legal symposium, a wide variety of topics will be addressed and discussed. There is an impressive line up of speakers from the legal profession, the financial profession, commercial representatives, state bodies and other Government officials. The organisers were keen to ensure that legal and financial professionals alike would benefit from attending the U.S./Ireland Legal Symposium.
Whilst lawyers are attracted by the 9.5 general CPD hours on offer, we have noted that a number of accountants have registered to attend with a view to taking the 9.5 general CPD hours. This alone may be an attractive factor to some of your colleagues in the accounting/tax or wider financial profession who want to know more when advising their clients about doing business in the U.S. or equally, in holding themselves out to advise U.S. companies who want to do business in Ireland, as a gateway to Europe.
The event which is chaired by Deirdre Somers, CEO, Irish Stock Exchange has an outstanding line up of Irish and U.S. speakers including the following:
-         An Taoiseach Enda Kenny, T.D.: Keynote Speaker At Gala Dinner
-         The Honorable Joseph Rocks,Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, NHS Human Services
-          Barry O'Leary, Chief Executive Officer, IDA Ireland
-          Kelly G. Huller, Vice President - Legal, Globus Medical, Inc.
-          Frank Ryan, Chief Executive Officer, Enterprise Ireland
-          Gerry Kilcommins, President, American Chamber of Commerce
Considering the importance of U.S. foreign direct investment for both the local and national economy, this symposium provides a unique opportunity for building relationships with key Irish and American decision makers.
The event is being promoted by NUI Galway, Temple University, The Western Development Commission, Mayo County Council and other sponsors.
