The LookWest.ie web initiative was launched in 2004 to promote the benefits of living, working and doing business in the West.  The website is an indispensable resource which provides links and information for those considering a move to the West with each county in the region having its own dedicated web page.

  • There have been almost 700,000 visits to LookWest.ie to date and traffic to the site continues to grow every year.
  • There was growth of 26% in web visits since last year driving an average of almost 20,000 visitors to the site each month demonstrating that now more than ever people are interested in learning about Ireland's Western Region and what it has to offer.
  • Significantly, over 4,500 people have completed our Skills & Enterprise Register section which collects detailed information on the skills, education and qualifications of those interested in moving West.  This valuable information also allows the WDC build a profile of the available labour force.
  • Added to LookWest.ie in 2008 the Regional Company Directory – an online database of over 11,000 regional businesses - is a great reference for businesses, agencies and job seekers alike.

Through the LookWest.ie initiative the WDC established and ran the LookWest.ie EXPO (2006-08) – an annual event held in Dublin to facilitate Western businesses and organisations to meet with individuals interested in locating to the Region.  Under the LookWest.ie umbrella, the WDC have also successfully organised with state agencies, business and local authorities a series of multimedia campaigns to raise awareness of the Region.

LookWest.ie is currently working to develop links and engage with Irish Diaspora communities abroad to ensure that Ireland's Western Region is competitively well placed in a global market place.
