About Us

The Western Development Commission (WDC) is a state body with responsibility for fostering and promoting economic and social development in the Western Region (counties Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim, Roscommon, Mayo, Galway and Clare).

The WDC operates under the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government.

This website has been developed to:

• highlight the advantages of living, working and doing business in the West
• provide information for people considering a move West
• provide information for people currently living in the West

The WDC has worked in partnership with the county and city councils in the West to develop www.lookwest.ie.
